Christopher M. Starr, Ph.D.Christopher M. Starr, Ph.D.
CEO and Co-founder

Christopher M. Starr, Ph.D., co-founded Raptor in 2005 and serves as our Chief Executive Officer and member of our Board of Directors. In 1997, Dr. Starr co-founded BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc., serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer. At BioMarin, he led a scientific operations team to successfully develop commercial manufacturing processes for enzyme replacement products, and supervised the cGMP design, construction and licensing of a manufacturing facility. From 1991 to 1998, as Vice President of Research and Development at BioMarin's predecessor company, Glyko, Inc., Dr. Starr supervised and directed research, development and commercial programs. As a National Research Council Associate at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Dr. Starr studied nuclear membrane transport, cell surface receptor function, and protein intracellular trafficking. Dr. Starr earned a B.S. from Syracuse University and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the State University of New York, Health Science Center, Syracuse.

President

Ted Daley joined Raptor as President of Raptor’s clinical subsidiary in conjunction with the Company’s acquisition of the assets of Convivia, Inc., which Mr. Daley founded. At Convivia, Mr. Daley was reformulating an approved, small molecule therapeutic for its potential treatment of ALDH2 deficiency, an inherited metabolic disorder with serious health consequences and no existing treatment. Prior to founding Convivia, Mr. Daley was co-founder, Vice President of Business Development and Chief Operating Officer of Instill Corporation, which he helped build into a leading electronic commerce services provider to the U.S. foodservice industry. He has also served in a variety of executive and consulting roles for a number of technology startup companies, including MetricStream, Inc., PartsRiver and Certicom Security. He previously worked in operations management for Anheuser-Busch, Inc., and consulted to the Gordon Biersch Brewing Company and Lion Breweries (New Zealand). Mr. Daley received a B.S. in Fermentation Science from the University of California at Davis, and an M.B.A. from Stanford University, Palo Alto, California.

Henk Doude van TroostwijkHenk Doude van Troostwijk
General Manager, European Commercial Operations

Henk Doude van Troostwijk serves as Raptor’s General Manager of European Commercial Operations located in the Netherlands. Mr. Doude van Troostwijk most recently served within Genzyme, a Sanofi company, as Business Unit Director, Oncology, for Haematology and Transplantation in Northern Europe. In that position, his responsibilities included management of the reimbursement process, implementation of marketing strategies and business plans, recruitment and training of new colleagues, public relations, outreach to key opinion leaders and development of medical communications. Before that, Mr. Doude van Troostwijk held the title of Country Manager for Bioenvision, where he was responsible for building infrastructure and launching Evoltra, an orphan drug for leukemia, in the Benelux region. Mr. Doude van Troostwijk began his career at Nycomed before taking management positions in sales and marketing at Merck Sharp & Dohme and Bristol Myers Squibb. Mr. Doude van Troostwijk holds a B.A. in Business Administration and an M.B.A. from Henley, The Management College in the U.K.

Vice President, Quality Operations

Kathy L. Powell serves as Raptor's Vice President, Quality Operations. Ms. Powell has more than 20 years of experience in biotechnology quality control and validation. From 2002 to 2011, Ms. Powell worked at Pacific BioDevelopment, LLC, a San Francisco-based biotechnology consulting group, where she was most recently Vice President, Quality, and before that Quality/CMC consultant. At Pacific BioDevelopment, she developed CMC regulatory strategies, prepared CMC sections of regulatory submissions, selected and managed contract manufacturing organizations for the development, manufacture, and testing of drug substances and drug products for the firm's client companies. Prior to Pacific BioDevelopment, Ms. Powell served as Vice President, Quality, Validation, and Regulatory at Diosynth-RTP, before which she held various positions in Quality Control and Validation at Genentech, Inc. Ms. Powell holds an M.S. in biochemistry from the University of Missouri and a B.A. in Chemistry, from Doane College, Crete, Nebraska, where she graduated summa cum laude.

Patrick ReichenbergerPatrick Reichenberger
Vice President, Commercial Operations

Patrick Reichenberger joined Raptor as the Vice President, Commercial Operations. He has over 20 years of experience in biotech/pharma sales and marketing including orphan product development and commercialization. Prior to joining Raptor, Mr. Reichenberger served as Senior Director at XOMA LLC. In this role he led XOMA’s commercial development department with particular emphasis on XOMA 052, an anti-IL-1 antibody for cardiovascular disease and Behcet’s Uveitis, an orphan disease. Prior to XOMA, Mr. Reichenberger managed marketing, sales, reimbursement and distribution at Questcor Pharmaceuticals supporting the re-launch of H.P. Acthar® Gel for the treatment of infantile spasm, an ultra-orphan, pediatric disease. Prior to Questcor, he held positions of increasing responsibility at Genentech, Athena Neurosciences, a division of Elan, and Parke-Davis Pharmaceuticals. Patrick has an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University, where he graduated with Honors, and a B.S. in Biology from University of California, Los Angeles.

Chief Medical Officer

Patrice P. Rioux, M.D., Ph.D. joined Raptor as Chief Medical Officer of Raptor’s clinical subsidiary. Prior to joining Raptor in April 2009, Dr. Rioux served as Chief Medical Officer of FerroKin Biosciences, an early-stage developer of iron chelator for treatment of anemias. Prior to that, he was Chief Medical Officer and Vice President Clinical/Regulatory for Edison Pharmaceuticals, which focused on developing drugs to treat inherited and acquired energy impairment diseases. Dr. Rioux’ three-decade career includes positions at Repligen Corp., Arrow International, Variagenics, Inc., Biogen and GRP (Groupement de Recherche en Pharmacologie). From 1975 to 1995, Dr. Rioux was a researcher in Clinical Research and Epidemiology at INSERM (Institut National de la Sante et de la Recherche Medicale), a French organization that supports national research in the medical field. Educated in France, Dr. Rioux has an M.D., a Ph.D. in Mathematical Statistics, and a Masters degree in Pharmacology.

Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Secretary

Kim R. Tsuchimoto serves as Raptor’s Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Secretary. From 1997 to 2005, Ms. Tsuchimoto worked at BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc., and its predecessor, Glyko, Inc., where she held the positions of Vice President-Treasurer, Vice President-Controller and prior to that as Controller. Ms. Tsuchimoto was responsible for SEC and Canadian public company filings for BioMarin and Glyko, Inc., respectively, as well as corporate compliance, corporate governance, cash management and financial reporting at both companies. Ms. Tsuchimoto has held the position of Interim Controller at International Microcomputer Software, Inc., and before that, Assistant Vice President and Controller at a local high technology company. Ms. Tsuchimoto served as the Controller of a marketing consulting firm and an international venture capital firm, and a staff accountant in a local public accounting firm. Ms. Tsuchimoto is an inactive licensed California Certified Public Accountant. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration from San Francisco State University, San Francisco, California.

Chief Scientific Officer and Co-founder

Todd C. Zankel, Ph.D. co-founded Raptor and serves as our Chief Scientific Officer. From 1997 to 2005, Dr. Zankel served as a Senior Director of Research at BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc., where he conceived and led the development of the RAP-based technologies currently owned by Raptor. Dr. Zankel was an NIH postdoctoral fellow at both the Plant Gene Expression Center in Berkeley, California, and the Swiss Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland. Dr. Zankel has authored a number of peer-reviewed articles covering various scientific areas. He earned a B.A. in Chemistry from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Columbia University, New York.
